    Notes

    The leprosy archives in the Regional State Archives of Bergen cover a number of different archives: those of the Medical Superintendent of Leprosy (Overlegen for den spedalske sykdom); archives from the two major leprosy hospitals in Bergen – Lungegaardshospitalet and Pleiestiftelsen No. 1; and records from several other medical doctors.

    The Medical Superintendents of Leprosy were: Ove Guldberg Høegh (appointed 1854), Timandus Johan Løberg (appointed 1863, on Høegh’s death), Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen (appointed 1875).

    Documents in these archives that relate to the Medical Superintendent of Leprosy in Bergen include: correspondence and journals for the districts of Nordre and Søndre (1858-1971) and medical records.
