The archives of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand not only include minutes of committee meetings, copies of the Mission Secretary's and Mission Convenor's outwards correspondence, the Mission Secretary's and Mission Convenor's inwards correspondence, subject files, memoranda, minutes of appointed sub-committees and correspondence from overseas mission organizations and property matters, they also include photographic material, including lantern slides, photographs and original albums dating from as early as the 1880's, and some cine film dating from 1936.

The missionary field included New Hebrides Mission (now Vanuatu), the Punjab Mission, the Madras Mission (under the control of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church of Scotland Missions) and the Canton Villages Mission. The Presbyterian Church has also undertaken considerable Mission work in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and in the South Pacific region generally.
