Born in Tokyo in 1926, has been making ceramics for 28 years. Entered Tama Zenshoen in 1946. Began ceramics as a form of rehabilitation when his eyesight deteriorated to near blindness roughly 30 years ago. Has supported the ceramics studio since then, longer than anyone else, and continues to do so. Takayama-san’s gentle and delicate style is a reflection of himself.
