    Notes

The library in CREDESA, the Centre Régional pour le Développement de la Santé [Regional Centre for Health Development], holds numerous documents pertaining to leprosy, dating from the 1950s to the present day.

There are reports from the Ministère de la Santé Publique [Ministry of Public Health], containing epidemiological and statistical information on leprosy in Benin, evaluation of the national anti-leprosy programme, and information on training those involved in the programme. Other documents from the Ministry include a manual for health workers in the field of leprosy; a report on the prevention of disabilities caused by the disease; and minutes of a meeting of leprosy workers in Cameroon in 1993.

There is a file containing information on the survey taken in Ouidah in 1993-94, during which time 2 000 questionnaires were distributed in order to find out the extent of the residents’ knowledge of leprosy.

There are also some theses, including one dated 1977, which reviews the problems posed by leprosy and focuses on statistical and epidemiological aspects; and another by RAC Dossou, highlighting the problem of rehabilitation for people cured of the disease in the region of Atakora in Benin.

For more details on the files concerning leprosy in this archive, see the file list (in French) located here: https://leprosyhistory.org/file_db/CREDESA_FilesList.pdf
