"The Medical Mission work in Uganda is at present entirely in the hands of the Church Missionary Society. Leprosy is treated in the various hospital out-patient departments and in the separate leper block at Kigezi [in the South Western Province]. At Ng'ora a new department of the work has been rendered possible owing to the generosity of the British Empire Leprosy Relief Association, through the Mission to Lepers. There are thousands of lepers in the Eastern province of Uganda, and it has now been decided to open a special leper department of the Ng'ora Medical Mission. Buildings will be erected and Major Wiggins, late principal Medical Officer of the Uganda Protectorate, has volunteered his services as an honorary worker in charge of the department."
