This settlement was founded in 1930 by Dr Wiggins in Kapiri. In 1934 it was moved to its present site at Ongino, six miles away from the children's leprosarium at Kumi. (122/3 Kumi and Ongino 1958-1960, Archives of the Leprosy Mission, International).
