    Notes

    Founded in 1902 by Rev F W A Smith, the Bryan Leper Home initially catered to the needs of people affected by leprosy rejected by their families and the community. The TLM Bankura Leprosy Control Programme started in 1973. The prevalence rate in 1973 was 140/10 000 and now the prevalence rate is 7.8/10 000. The centre has a 'Leprosarium' that serves sixty patients.
