    Notes

Les Archives Nationales du Sénégal (National Archives of Senegal) contain files from all of the territories of French West Africa (Afrique Occidentale Française - AOF), of which Dakar was the capital.

The files include Annual Medical Reports from the Côte d'Ivoire (1907-1914), the Niger, Guinea, the Soudan (Mali), Senegal, Togo from the 1930s, from Haute-Senegal-Niger (1912) and the Soudan 1928-1942. There are medical reports on laboratory work (1929); sanitary reports for the Niger (1936); and annual reports from L'Institut Central de la Lèpre and the Service Général d'Hygiène Mobile de Prophylaxie from the 1950s including information on the use of DDS treatment (1935). Reports on treatment prompted by visits to International Leprosy Conferences are also held here. In addition, documents relating to anti-leprosy campaigns in French West Africa, annual reports on L'Institut Marchoux (1954) and documents relating to public health ministerial conferences (1958) are part of this archive.

A catalogue with more information on the files related to leprosy can be accessed here (PDF, 18 pages).
