    Notes

    The Eliot Elisofon Photographic Archives in the National Museum of African Art, Smithsonian Institution, holds a postcard collection that shows the Mission Protestante Française de Madagascar, the “Diaconesses Distribuant le Riz aux Lépreux; Léproserie de Manankavaly” (1905); and the “Leproserie Catholique” at Fianarantsoa (1905).

    There is also a slide collection taken by Eliot Elisofon (1911-1973) of Dr G W Harley at the Ganta Methodist Mission doing research on leprosy for the Liberian Institute of Tropical Medicine (1959).
