    Notes

The National Archives holds a number of records that were rescued from the Henson Home, Charles Fort, after the ravages of Hurricane Luis in 1998. They had already been exposed to the weather for a number of years before this event.

The records consist mostly of dietary information, medications administered to patients, and allownaces given to patients. Because of their condition, they are not included in the catalogue.

Also of interest, but from a different source, is a paper that was published fortnightly for about three years at the end of the nineteenth century called the "Lazaretto". The publisher's purpose seems to have been isolation of people affected by the disease.

The Correspondence with the Governor in Antigua makes mention of "lepers" from time to time, and the public works vote books refer to the upkeep of the Henson home.
