Hospital Nacional de Enfermedades Infecciosas (Hospital Del Rey) was created during the Second Republic in 1933-1934, and is the most important Spanish Hospital founded during the first third of the twentieth century, devoted specifically to the medical assistance of infectious patients. Infectious diseases were the most important epidemiological problem in that time.
Its fonds remain in the Library and Historical Museum of the Instituto Nacional de Salud Carlos III ( Madrid).

The documents refer to specific years from 1928 until 1980. They include mainly yearly statistical epidemiological tables of the admissions of patients to the hospital, according to the diagnoses of specific diseases. These files include a detailed statistical report about leprosy in Spain during most of the 20 th century. Attached to this information is a record of admissions according to sex, age, geographic origin, diagnosis and death, until 1982. From 1961 the annual admissions are grouped by provinces of origin of the patients (1928; 1935-1937; 1970; 1973; 1975-1978; 1980).
