The Archivo Foral represents one of keystones of the cultural policy of the Department of Culture of the Delegación Foral (Leasehold Delegation) of Bizkaia (Basc Country). This includes collection, conservations, cataloguing and management of the Documentary Patrimony of Bizkaia and particularly of the Documentary Patrimony for which the Delegación Foral of Bizkaia is directly responsible. The conservation of this documentary patrimony has been the oldest of the preoccupations of the leasehold (foral) administration, going back to the Middle Ages.
