    Notes

The majority of the holdings of the National Archives date from the Dutch colonial era. There is only an inventory of records from the period before the 1800s. Of the modern period, until 1945, the medical documents are spread out over the several regional archives with correspondence to and from the local departments, to and from the military and civil health services, and over the main archives of the civil health service and the military health service. Until the inventory of the modern period has been completed, the main interest for the leprosy researcher is in the Colonial States [Koloniale Staten] and the Colonial Reports [Koloniale Verslagen] where documents in which the figures of leprosy patients and leprosaria in the Indonesian archipelago in colonial times are shown.
