The Medical Scientific Institute has a library that holds the Surinaam Medical Bulletin, in which in 1999 a series of articles appeared that treated the history of leprosy in Suriname, written by Prof. Erwin van der Kuyp. Professor Rudy F. M. Lai A Fat, Professor of Dermatology, is able to share his insider's view of the postwar history of leprosy in Suriname and the history of famous leprosy researchers in Suriname such as Bueno de Mesquita.
