Frederic John Mouat (18 May 1816–12 Jan 1897) was a British surgeon. His major contribution to the leprosy field was his introduction of chaulmoogra oil to Western medicine. He reported success in treating a leprosy patient with chaulmoogra in the Indian Annals of Medical Science in 1854. Treatment was given both internally and externally.
Mouat's report was reprinted by the International Journal of Leprosy in 1935, and may be found online here (PDF).
