From 1960, Joseph Hathaway (1900-), a dermatologist from Spokane, Washington, devoted six months a year to working with the leprosy control and treatment problem in Hawaii. Between 1965 and 1970 he was medical director of the Hale Mohalu Leprosy Hospital there, and taught about leprosy.
