Yutaka Naruse (1922-2013) was a patient at the Japanese National Sanatorium Matsuoka Hoyo-en. He is known as an artist, especially for his painting “The Scream”, comparable to Edvard Munch’s work of the same title.
He was admitted to Matsuoka in 1949 and spent the following 64 years of his life there. He almost lost his sight at the latter stage but kept painting until his final days. He was survived by his wife Teru.
