Matsuki Miyazaki (1900-1972) was a medical doctor and the director of Kikuchi Keifu-en from 1934 to 1958.
During his directorship at Kikuchi Keifu-en several notable incidents happened, some controversial: namely, the rounding-up of squatters around Honmyoji Temple, Kumamoto city in 1941, bringing many of the affected to Kikuchi Keifu-en; making the military pension scheme for tuberculosis-affected military servicemen the same for the leprosy affected; taking a stand against the discrimination of the so-called ‘untainted children’ so that they could be integrated into regular public schools; and criticising the revision of the leprosy prevention law (1953) at the National Diet (Parliament) Upper House hearing on the revision of the leprosy prevention law (1953) for the possible release of confinement of patients. He later withdrew this criticism.
After resigning from Kikuchi Keifu-en, he worked against leprosy in India (1959-1972) through the India Leprosy Relief Centre (later JALMA Institute), Agra, India. He died in the JAL plane crash at Delhi Airport in 1972.
