1936 Sidu Leprosy Village"During the year [1936] a survey was made on Ysabel by Native Medical Practitioner Bogese, which resulted in the discovery of twenty-seven leprosy affected people on that island. There is still no institution in the Protectorate which cares for those affected by the disease, but the Melanesian Mission proposes opening its leprosarium again in the coming year. Out-patient treatments are given at Government stations where there is a medical officer or a native medical practitioner, but little is accomplished as the patients will not come regularly for treatment."
