    88 stone Buddhas

1979, National Sanatorium Oshima Seishoen, Kagawa, Japan. More details
These stone statues of Buddha at Oshima Seishoen were made in the late Taisho Period (1912-26) at the suggestion of the head priest at Motoyamaji (the 70th stop on the pilgrimage) to replicate the 88-stop pilgrimage on the island of Shikoku. The residents prayed to these statues for various things.
