The work of TLM (The Leprosy Mission, previously The Mission to Lepers) started here in Salur in the early 1900s and developed into work at Vizianagram and Ramchandrapuram. The resources available at the Leprosy Mission Hospital here include a library with collections of photographs and paintings as well as various churches and hospitals in the area.
