Records held at the Joint Directorate of Health Services, Maharashtra Government, are maintained from 1981 in the form of:
Statistical records – MIS Systems – partially computerised; monthly performance records, consisting of reports from grass roots level workers; deformity; complications; child incidences; limited sex-wise data; region-/area-wise data; compendium of circulars 1981-1991. These records consist of: A – Permanent; B – 10 year period; C – 5 year period; and D – disposable records. Photographs are of campaigns but not affected persons. Patient records for the last ten to fifteen years are at Primary Health Care levels.
Each division has its own records in relation to: statistics wing, technical wing, medicine wing, lab technician wing, cash accounts, service book, reconciliation, accountant general and stores section. Earlier patient records were retained until 1955 but as the disease was able to be diagnosed and treatment simplified, old patient records were destroyed. Since 1991 New Case Detection tabulated in Statistical Section. Records are not neatly maintained but are tied in suitable bundles and wrapped in cloth.
