The Melville J Herskovits Library of African Studies at Northwestern University holds East African and Eastern Nigerian records relevant to leprosy work. An inventory is available from the Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies.
There are ten items to do with the East Africa Medical Research Centers and Institutes: Publications, 1954-1975; the East African Council for Medical Research; and the East African Leprosy Research Centre.
These are kept in a vertical file arranged alphabetically by folder title, and items are arranged in chronological order. They include annual and other reports from centers and institutes including the East Africa Council for Medical Research and the East African Leprosy Research Centre.
There are approximately 100 government publications created by the Eastern Region of Nigeria, dating from between 1953 and 1966, and spanning the years when the Eastern Region of Nigeria was created in 1951, until it became Eastern Nigeria in 1961.
These are also kept in a vertical file arranged alphabetically by folder title, with items in chronological order. They collection includes printed accounts, annual reports, audits, budget speeches, development plans, estimates, policy statements, reports, sessional papers, staff lists, standing orders and other documents from, and pertaining to, the government and its ministries, departments, commissions and committees. Amongst these are the publications of Health, and specifically those of the Leprosy Research Unit.
There are also government publications created by Eastern Nigeria (formerly Eastern Region). These were created when Eastern Nigeria (formerly Eastern Region) was created in 1961 and became the Eastern Group of Provinces in 1966.
This collections includes accounts, annual reports, audits, development plans, estimates, policy statements, reports, sessional papers, statistics, and other documents from, and pertaining to, the government and its ministries, departments, and other units. Among those represented are Health (including the Leprosy Research Unit, Uzuakoli).
