    Summer Sea

    海のなか 黒髪流し たれならむ 永遠の太母に 引き寄せらるる

2009, National Sanatorium Suruga, Japan. More details
The flowing lock of black hair
Lures me gently from the sea
With eternal embrace of the Great Mother

The poem is written by the painter who spent her high school days at Nagashima Aisei-en, located on an island in the Seto Inland Sea. The surrounding sea is connected deeply by a huge yet a composed power that lay silently at the bottom like The Great Mother Archetype (Jung). The flowing lock of black hair beats against the shore like a living being and its big eyes and facial expressions, overflowing with gentleness, are beckoning me. Yearning to be embraced, I listen to the sound of waves, the sound of the water as if they are my birthplace.
